New oldies

It's always a little weird to post about what's "new" on Buzzr. The new stuff is sometimes almost as old as me, as that's old.

But our little oldies diginet will be shaking up the schedule a little bit on September 30. Back for more fun is Monty's Let's Make a Deal on weeknights. There will also be a weekly run of Bill Cullen's The Price is Right on Sunday.

Gone is Temptation. This show was hardly the abomination that many oldies freaks yelped about. It was just a so-so rewind of a very so-so original Sale of the Century. But the oldies crown regarded its presence on Buzzr as some kind of abomination, since it didn't have at least a couple decades of dust on it.

The axing of Temptation (and previously Celebrity Name Game), plus the addition of the more-than-half-century-old Cullen TPiR, indicates that Buzzr has pretty well given up on appealing to any more than a handful of oldies fans. They must figure this is our audience, such as it is, so why try for more? Buzzr general manager Mark Deetjen had previously made some noises about scrapping the black-and-white shows and brushing some dust off the schedule. This was supposed to appeal to younger viewers.

So much for that idea. Meanwhile, Buzzr will also run another "Lost & Found" marathon on September 29. Mostly the same old shows except for an ep of Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour with, of all people, Howie Mandel.
